Jun Sazanami ー さざなみじゅん
i think it's really ironic that i have a jun shrine and not a hiyori shrine despite the fact i fixated on hiyori for like 6 months in 2022/2023, but i think i like jun slightly more than hiyori now purely because he's i guess more relateable? despite me relating to hiyori for a large span of time i think i really grew to love jun and eve since obviously every unit story revolves around more than one person. jun is a really interesting character to me, mainly through his past and his role in the reimei revolution, but i also just think he's really cute and the way he's changed from between ! and !! is a good positive change for him and his general behaviour.
isn't he cute :(( i died when i saw this scene he's so cute and positive he has no ideas of the horrors.. his weird sort of parallel with subaru makes me ill but generally i wish we saw more of baby jun he's so adorable :((
i think another thing i really like about jun is his voice .. like uchida yuuma please make more music im gonna die. please. another jun centre happyele. please. in terms of speaking style as well, his original tone was really brash and now he's transitioned to a weirdly mellow and almost fond tone at least when speaking to those he's close to.
the role he plays in the reimei revolution to me is really interesting as whilst i can understand him being treated as a bystander he definitely plays a role in the way tatsumi and kaname acted considering he begrudgingly obyed to allow kaname access to the catacombs, and therefore heavily engage with tatsumi's attempt to save the lost lambs of reimei. he doesn't hold a heavy fault to what happend in obbligato, but his role is undeniable and i think that really says a lot about his character in a way. i think he regrets not being able to do anything, but he was also able to acknowledge that he couldn't have done anything, considering it was a whole group of people vs the two on the stage, and obviously tatsumi's followers would be more likely to protect their sheperd than the most dedicated lamb.
reimei aside, the way jun behaves now is really cute to me because like ??? he just is ??? the gap moe happyele grants him is insane im not even joking like you're telling me hes a grown ass 3rd year and goes to the gym all the time especially on his days off but his favourite food is STRAWBERRIES???? like thats so cute????? i really wish he had more content lately they should make a card of him eating strawberry cake or something i think junPs would rlly appreciate that but also he had a lot more extension on his love of video games cuz of the globalstars demon thing card so i think we just need to balance it out .. also he was part of the manga scout so he doesn't need more manga theme cards (not that i am discouraging this. please make more happyele) i just want to see the joy on this guy eating strawberry cake again ok
jun sazanami was added to ensemble stars in 2017 along with the rest of the unit eden. he is a member of both eden and its subunit eve, making him one of the only characters to be in two permanent units at once. his father was a popular idol when jun was very young, but his decline was used to boost the popularity of the uprising idol at the time, jin sagami. jun was therefore on raised to become someone who could face jin head on, meaning anything that happened at home had to be about idols.
due to his father's rigorous treatment and schedule, jun can scale walls. he also works out daily in order to maintain his shape. hiyori finds these muscles unsightly. as well as going to the gym often, jun also used to stay out at manga cafes in order to read, since he wasn't able to engage with anything non-idol related at home.
though seeming very productive consistently to those around him, it's also obvious when he's more out of it considering he consistently overworks himself to the point of selfdestruction, progressively getting more and more frustrated unless someone finally intervenes to make sure he doesn't accidentally kill himself with the way he overexerts himself.
initially in his idol career, he found himself overshadowed by the light that was his unitmate hiyori, but he figured it would be easier for the other to cover for his mistakes. however, over time, he managed to create his own image on his own terms. to be fair to him, though, he initially wasn't even in a unit. there was no auditioning for his position in eve; hiyori found him in reimei and chose him to be his unitmate. jun was at first hesitant of his place, but hiyori helped make him feel like he belonged, at least a little.
