Mayoi Ayase ー あやせまよい
without a doubt, mayoi ayase is my favourite character in ensemble stars. for better or for worse. i've loved him ever since i started this game, and even though i did lean closer towards eden at one point, i came full circle back to him in 2023. i love him so much. he's so well built as a character, and genuinely i'm so interested in watching his development. though he came with the introduction of ensemble stars !!, i think there isn't really a 'gap to fill' so to say with him, like there may be with other characters like tatsumi or HiMERU, considering they needed obbligato to build concept and understanding of what happened during the revolution, similarly to the way the war required a lot of stories to fully expand on its development.
i really want to learn more about him through new stories ( i havent read anything in a while but ik matrix was a bit of a shitshow so alkurei content is suddenly a little dodgy to try to interact w in game ) but also just have my questions answered? considering he has resided in the tunnels and vents of seisoukan/ES for ages i want to see other interactions with characters about that or like how does he know the sakumas considering raika is also related to them AND WE STILL HAVE NO MAYOI CONTENT. please why is he so scared of them im begging you akira happyele someone listen to me
+ not to be 'that guy' but i also relate to mayoi quite heavily so i think that definitely plays a part in how much i love him but can you blame me ? hes so cute.. but i also really like how he compares himself to eric/the phantom from phantom of the opera cuz its my fav musical like ever and ohhhh he drives me crazy hes really such a sweet character despite what he percieves as his flaws and the way he interprets this when speaking to others. being someone who percieves themself so swept up by sin and by dirt and would simply vapourise in the presence of someone holy is so interesting to me because i want to know what happened to this guy to fundementally mess him up but also awww :< makes me sad ,, his flaws make him up a lot as a character and yeah i just want to know more about him in general. mayoi lookback when (what
despite my rambles i don't have too many coherent thoughts on him. mayoi is cool. but just a random fact is that a lot of my personality is based on him.? like i know i said i relate to him but my twt is entityofnights + my dpriv pfp is mayoi + my microsoft pfp is mayoi + my NAME is based off mayoi (maYOI) and the entire purple theme of this website is because of him and my old site yoasemayo is. guess what. based on him and my love for him like i know it sounds deranged but yk when you just get obsessed with a character? thats me. i regret not buying his patty3 bear nui every day. i love him though and honestly yeah. i probably sound crazy. but i do love him. now for the gallery of sorts (aka me showing my fav cards of him)
early night illusion ー mayoi ayase
my fav bloomed card of his. i died when this dropped. i thought it was souma because i was low on dia and was trying not to die. do you see the fuckin COLOURS. i love him in blue toned stuff so much and this card was just so gorgeous. my only issue is with those sheos becuase why. like seriously why. but i feel like it really brings out his sort of phantomy vibes and the EYE MAKEUP is so gorgeous.. so much to appreciate with this and i don't think i've ever recovered but oh my god his hair is so long as well hello where were you keeping that. best card of him though imo

god. hes so cute here. do you see his expression,, hes so pathetic i actually need to crush him in a hydraulic press. and the blanket too like TT i love him so much genuinely. did you know i also love hajime shino. but either way the general composition of this card is really nice i really like the way it frames the perspective and the lighting is super nice too the contrast between all the colours in the golden light is definitely really cute BUT THAT BUNNY BLANKET. i love you mayoi ayase amen never stop being so cute this is my fav unbloomed like ever just because
bonus fact this tour ran over my birthday so i like to think it was like a bday present to me .. hajime and mayoi at the same time like :3 i have them both on my basic acc (i have been maining basic for like a year and a half) and yeah its just one of my favourite card sets in gen. i like the bloomed as well don't get me wrong i have it hung up in my bedroom a long with some other enstars posters i made even if its not my favourite but yeah this takes the cake as the cutest mayoi card.

one of my fav 4 stars in the game. this scout was revolutionary for me cuz of the 3stars as well but like mayoi here is so cute ?? like yes i know i keep saying hes so cute but the way he looks so awkward despite loving cute things the way he does is so adorable n generally i love the outfit for this so much the detailing is so cute and so are the colors. shoutout to nazunas unbloomed for this set as well it was really cute but also mayoi cameo!!! but also i just rlly liked the vibe of it despite unlearning his lisp he still was so confused and yeah i like nazuna ok shushh.. but yeah i love this card
reaper of frost ー mayoi ayase
my other fav 4*. reaper of frost mayoi oh how i miss you. for some reason it says reaper of freezing on the wiki but idgaf i call it reaper of frost anyway. black snow didn't have too much mayoi content in it, but i did really enjoy when it did. his development as an actor was really nice and i thought it was sweet in the way he talked to nagisa. he definitely fits the role of someone like the reaper of frost considering his infatuation with kohaku's character and how he disobeyed the orders to not interfere with another reaper's prey that ended in his untimely demise because he couldn't help himself.
the mv is also really pretty and i love the feature of the flower in the card/mv/story since it really reflects how the reaper freezes what he deems pretty and what he wants to last forever, which also aligns a lot with his character. this has been one of my fav cards for a while and still is, i really like the cooler colours and his expression being rlly etheral despite his position is a really nice detail. the unbloomed of this card makes me want to die so it doesnt get a mention but why did they uwu him like that he doesnt deserve it. go read black snow
mezmerising fairytale ー mayoi ayase
sanrio collab killed me my family and my will to live. running this on eng whilst also running dead end was so criminal im not even joking. i was too broke for both of them and i regret it every day. this card is so cute and im lowkey obsessed with his expression?? despite being someone who craves and loves cute things he really has this vibe to him that comes off more cool,, its a really nice angle on him but the unbloomed has a really cute vibe as well because hes so happy and its not even in the perverse way hes usually percieved as its a genuine fascination and happiness (at least to me) and i just feel so happy bcz of him . kuromi was definitely the perfect pick for him as well as a sanrio character and shoutout to cinnamorol niki because thats also SO cute but yeah i love the outfits and the vibe for this scout.

nevermind the insanity is unending. they released a new card this morning (9/1/25) of mayoi and im trying not to kill myself cuz like bro . do NOT use him as a way to overshadow the intense racism with 4katsuki it sucks but like ive been waiting on this theme for like 2years
hes so gorgeous sigh. im so sad. i like the theming with the snakes considering this year is year of the snake and also just the baroque-y feel is awesome i wish he wore shit like this more often. but i wont be logging in probably just because of the current boycott. but hes gorgeous.
mayoi ayase is a member of ALKALOID, an idol unit under the agency starmaker production. he was first introduced as part of the new, !! era of ensemble stars music (2021), along with the other members of ALKALOID, and the other new unit, crazy:b. his first introduction was in the !! era as well, during the main story. he was referenced beforehand, whilst eichi informed the other members of ALKALOID their predicament, but he was not seen until chapter 20. from !!, he is 17-18, and a 3rd year in yumenosaki gakuen academy.
he spends a lot of time in the underground and vents of yumenosaki/seisoukan, having seemingly been there for years before being grouped in the unit of 'underperformers'. this is shown throughout his representation in stories, even from the beginning as he led ALKALOID through an underground tunnel in the mainstory. he is not actually an underperformer by any means in terms of talent, having fully established his own ability as a dancer to the point he attempted to give aid to others, but eichi attempted to minorly echo his attempts in the war and piece together units for those he deemed lazing around. mayoi was known as a 'phantom' among others, as he had taken a habit to watching people and giving them notes to try to help them target their weak areas during practice. this was primarily revealed by madara mikejime in the mainstory, as he made a weirdly forceful effort to talk about the rumored phantom and their abilities whilst sharing a space with ALKALOID, evidently attempting to provoke mayoi into doing something regarding that title. mayoi is canonically a better dancer than madara, as he beat him in a sort of dance battle surrounding 'who would take on the responsibility of being ALKALOID's choreographer'.
mayoi also loves cute things, and suffers from a form of intrusive thoughts. these go together in a rather unfortunate manner, as these thoughts tend to spill out when he gets excited over things or people he finds cute, some examples being with aira or shinobu. in particular, the way he wails and cheers for shinobu during the ninja club song, but generally it's an observed behaviour. his intrusive thoughts range from violent to more sinister things, but he has expressed many times he isn't willing to cooperate with them, and would rather die that hurt anyone. despite this, the other characters are still wary of him (at least initially). his intrusive thoughts don't just come into play when talking about cute things, though. these come through even with other characters, like his friends or unitmates. there's no surprise there - they're intrusive - but he always feels incredibly regretful for even letting his feelings slip, almost like he wears his heart on his sleeve despite barely divulging his past to others.
since his first introduction, mayoi has grown as a person significantly; he can keep a better control on his thoughts, and has let himself become more comfortable with people, especially his unitmates. he has found himself becoming more of a person, in a way, and it's due to the direct influence of his unit members and the exposure from being part of an actual unit as opposed to a bystander that really has allowed him to flourish as a person and an idol.
